The LCHS welcomes those individuals or families who wish to adopt an abandoned pet. All retrieved animals will be retained for five days. Please read the following material if you are interested in adopting a pet. It will provide you with important information on the costs and requirements for pet adoption.
Adopting a Dog
All dog adoptions will adhere to the following prices and regulations:
- Prospective owners must have a fenced-in backyard.
- Dog and puppy adoption fee: $110.00.
- Adoption fees include shots, spaying or neutering, and microchipping.
Currently there are no city ordinances regarding licensing. However all dogs and puppies 3 months and older must have proof of rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian.
Adopting a Cat
All cat adoptions will adhere to the following prices and regulations
- Cat adoption fee: $110.00
- Adoption fees include shots, spaying or neutering, and feline leukemia testing.
There are currently no city ordinances concerning cat ownership. However, the LCHS encourages people to care for their cats responsibly. A lack of city ordinance for cat owners does not exempt a person from charges for animal cruelty. Nor does it excuse a person from being a good neighbor by making sure your cat is not being a nuisance to your surrounding neighbors. Be a good owner, and a good neighbor by taking proper care of your cats.
